90s movie legend and BAFTA winner, 64, ‘secretly marries’ boyfriend after five-year romance
STAR of the silver screen, Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, has tied the knot with her Bloomberg beau of five years, according to reports.
The 64-year-old actress, who is best known for roles in Mission Impossible and Four Weddings and a Funeral, has now seemingly enjoyed a somewhat secretive wedding of her own.
It’s said she said ‘I Do’ to 62-year-old Bloomberg editor-in-chief, John Micklethwait in an intimate ceremony.
With only their families present to witness the couple get wed, a friend told The Independent that the stealthily planned nuptials took place in September.
They said: “They are a perfect match. Both smart, wry and curious as well as devoted to each other. “
“Everyone is delighted that they have got married after a wonderful five-year romance.”
The BAFTA star, who was made a dame in 2015, has been with the high-profile British journalist for the last five years.
Renowned for keeping her private life under wraps, she recently told a Financial Times journalist who asked about their romance: “I’m not going to talk about him. I’m talking about me.”
The actress also shares three children with her ex-husband François Olivennes.
She was divorced in 2005 after 17 years of marriage.
In 2013 the actress told The Sunday Telegraph she would probably be single for the rest of her life, saying: “It’s incredibly difficult keeping relationships alive when you have a lifestyle like mine.”
“I’m never more than a few weeks in one place.”
Admitting her love life had suffered due to her career she continued: “If I’ve signed on to do something, then I have to do it properly.”
“So I have to switch off the personal life.”
“I can just about squeeze in a phone call at lunchtime, but anything else I just can’t deal with.”
The much-lauded actress has appeared in more than 70 films over her illustrious 40-year career, in both French and English.
Hits include the critically acclaimed The English Patient and Slow Horses with English actor and filmmaker Gary Oldman.
She was awarded an OBE in 2003 and a DBE in 2015 for her services to drama.
Her reported now husband, has run the international Bloomberg news agency, headquartered in New York, since 2015.
Prior to his tenure there the 62-year-old was editor-in-chief of The Economist for nine years from 2006-2015.
He was awarded a CBE for his services to journalism and economics in 2016.
