Bindi Irwin’s Daughter Grace Had the Cutest Reaction To Meeting a Gecko in Adorable New Photos
The only thing predictable about little kids is that they are totally unpredictable. They beg you to meet Mickey Mouse, then scream the whole time; eat 3 bananas one day, then claim they hate bananas the next. They definitely know how to keep you on your toes! And even though Bindi Irwin knows how much her daughter Grace Warrior loves wildlife, she was still caught off guard by the 3-year-old’s reaction to meeting a Gecko recently. It’s so cute, you can’t help but laugh!
Bindi’s brother Robert Irwin shared several photos of the encounter on Instagram, where he explained exactly what went down. “Uncle Robert: ‘Look at this Gecko!’ … Grace: ‘What does it smell like?’ ????????????” he wrote. Bindi commented on the post, writing, “Can confirm this was the exact conversation ????.”
What does it smell like?! I was not expecting the interaction to take that turn, but when you think about it, it makes sense. She can see what it looks like, she’s probably felt it already. What’s left to be curious about except for smell?
In the photos, Grace looks adorable in her Australia Zoo khaki outfit (with a tiny “Grace Warrior” printed on the chest). She’s holding a flashlight as she hangs out outside in the dark with Robert. He’s bending down to hold up a tiny lizard in his hand, rocking a headlamp. In the second picture, Grace leans in to smell the Gecko. It’s called research, ok? The last photo is just a close-up of the lizard, which looks really cool with a blue-green skin and tiny dots all over his back.
“Okay but a very valid question!! I NEED ANSWERS!” one person commented. “Well, what does it smell like? Now I want to know ????” someone else wrote. Another praised, “Yueess giiiiirrlll!!! Putting in the important research!”
Grace has helped her uncle with lizards before. Last month, Robert shared a video from the time he and Bindi’s husband Chandler Powell released two young lace monitors “back to the wild” after being cared for in the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.
“Thanks for your help, Grace!” he says in the clip, as Grace walks toward him to check out the lizard crawling on his arm. “You can pat his back!” Bindi says from off-camera, pointing out that Grace’s striped shirt matches the lace monitor’s back.
After Robert and Powell release the lizards, you can hear Bindi explaining to Grace, “They’re going home, back to the wild!” It’s clear Grace inherited the Irwin family curiosity and love for wildlife, even if her methods of exploration are a little unusual at times. She’s such a cutie!
