West Linn and Lakeridge put perfect seasons on the line
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Two of Oregon's premier football schools, West Linn and Lakeridge, will square off Friday putting both their perfect records at stake.
It promises to be a major matchup since both are state championship contenders. The Lions (5-0) travel to Pacer territory, and while both teams have been flawless thus far, one perfect season will come to an end under the Friday night lights.
Lakeridge has a history of dominating at home, with an 8-game winning streak continuing from last season. The Pacers just defeated Oregon City 36-0, thanks in large part to their outstanding defense. With seven sacks, including a combined five from Noah Tishendorf and Treyson Eddleman, Lakeridge's defense established the tone and left their mark.
However, West Linn won't be scared off. The Lions are on a roll of their own; they have won eight games in a row on the road, and they looked unstoppable after beating Tigard 55-0 last week. West Linn has easily established themselves as one of the state's most powerful offenses.
West Linn has won the last ten matchups between the teams, including a decisive 52-10 victory last season. Lakeridge will be trying to end their decade-long. This time around, the Pacers have home field advantage, and their defense will be trying to hold back the Lions explosive offense that has yet to slow down.
Will the Lions maintain their dominance on the road, or will Lakeridge defend their home field and end West Linn's winning streak? The Lions have a small advantage in this game due to their 10-year-long winning streak record over Lakeridge, but it's sure to be a close game.
Watch Friday at 7 p.m. to find out which club, in one of the most important games of the season for Oregon, will emerge as the last undefeated team.
