New Delhi: The sport is not just a game but a passion that unites millions of fans across the country. Well, Cricket fever in India is an undeniable phenomenon that transcends age, gender, and socio-economic boundaries.Whether it’s the exhilarating atmosphere of a live match, the excitement of the Indian Premier League (IPL), or the emotional rollercoaster of international tournaments, cricket holds a special place in the hearts of Indians.

Speaking of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya are some of the most famous and richest Indian cricketers, known for their exceptional skills and contributions to the game.

However, one cricketer’s net worth exceeds that of all these legends combined: Samarjitsinh Ranjitsinh Gaekwad. Although he may not be widely recognized in the cricketing world, he holds the title of India’s wealthiest cricketer.

Meet India’s richest cricketer, has more wealth than Dhoni, Tendulkar, Kohli, Rohit, Yuvraj, Pandya combined, he lives in….

Samarjitsinh Ranjitsinh Gaekwad was born in April 1967. The only son of Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh Gaekwad and Shubhanginiraje, Samarjitsinh Ranjitsinh Gaekwad hails from the royal Gaekwad family of Baroda. He studied at the Doon School where he developed a keen interest in sports from an early age. During his time there, he captained the school’s teams in football, tennis, and cricket, showcasing his talent across multiple disciplines.

Samarjitsinh Gaekwad played competitive cricket, representing Baroda in the esteemed Ranji Trophy. As a top-order batsman, he participated in the 1987/88 and 1988/89 seasons. After hanging up his bat, he remained connected to the sport and later took on the role of president of the Baroda Cricket Association.

In 2012, following the passing of his father, Samarjitsinh Gaekwad was crowned the Maharaja of Baroda at the majestic Laxmi Vilas Palace, India’s largest private residence. In addition to his royal title, he manages temple trusts for 17 significant temples in Gujarat and Banaras, which further enhances both his wealth and his responsibilities.

Samarjitsinh Ranjitsinh Gaekwad and his wife, Radhikaraje Gaekwad, represent a union of two prominent royal families from Gujarat. Radhikaraje hails from the royal lineage of Wankaner, while Samarjitsinh is a scion of the Baroda royal family.
Together, the couple balances their royal heritage with modern responsibilities. They strive to preserve the rich traditions associated with their ancestral legacy while also engaging with contemporary society. The Gaekwads maintain a particular interest in the sporting world, reflecting the family’s historical patronage of various athletic pursuits.
Although Samarjitsinh Gaekwad maintains a low profile in cricketing circles, his significance extends far beyond the sport. His immense wealth, inherited through generations of royal patrimony, coupled with his prestigious lineage, ensures his standing as a notable figure in Indian society. This combination of historical importance and considerable assets keeps the Gaekwad name relevant in discussions of India’s aristocratic families, even as the country has moved away from its princely past.
