LAGOS STATE HEALTH DISTRICT III ENHANCES HEALTHCARE DELIVERY THROUGH DATA REVIEW OF KEY HEALTH INDICATORS

Lagos State Health District III recently held a Data Review Meeting to assess the performance of key health indicators from Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across Epe, Eti-Osa, and Ibeju-Lekki.

The comprehensive review covered data from August 2022 to July 2024, offering valuable insights into healthcare delivery and the effectiveness of ongoing health interventions within the areas.

In her opening remarks at the meeting, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke emphasised the importance of maintaining high-quality and accurate data to meet the health needs of the population.

She highlighted the pivotal role data plays in healthcare improvements, stating: “Accurate and reliable data is the backbone of healthcare improvement. It helps in tracking progress, identifying areas that need attention, and making informed decisions to enhance service delivery.”

Adeleke further revealed that the review’s findings showed significant progress in several key health indicators, particularly in maternal and child health, immunisation coverage, and the reduction of communicable diseases.

These achievements, she noted, were largely due to the dedication of healthcare workers at the PHCs, whose commitment to delivering quality services has driven positive change in the communities under the District’s coverage.

She added that beyond the numbers, the review provided an opportunity to address areas that still need attention, such as strengthening disease surveillance, improving healthcare accessibility in remote areas, and addressing gaps in healthcare staffing.

Speaking further, Adeleke praised the collaborative efforts of the healthcare teams, saying “Their collective efforts continue to drive positive change in our communities. As a team, we remain focused on using data-driven insights to build a healthier future for all in Lagos.”

The Permanent Secretary concluded by reaffirming the district’s commitment to utilising data as a key tool for decision-making, ensuring that the health of citizens remains a top priority.
