The French anti-terrorism prosecutor announced that an Afghan citizen is being interrogated on charges of “terrorism and planning a suspected attack.”
Authorities state that the plot, which involved “targeting people in a football stadium or a shopping center,” appears to be linked to the Afghan suspect.
The 22-year-old Afghan suspect is one of three people that authorities had arrested earlier this week in Toulouse. The other two detainees have been released from custody.
Officials revealed that after investigations began on September 27, a “plot to carry out violent acts targeting people in a football stadium or a shopping center” emerged, which seemingly connects to the Afghan suspect.
They added that they have found “several elements” that seem to link the individual to “radicalism” and adherence to “the ideology of the Islamic State (ISIS).”
