Halo Complex Observed from Jamrud, Pakistan

The superb halo complex shown above was captured from Jamrud, Khyber, Pakistan during the afternoon (approximately 5:30 p.m. local time) of June 28, 2024. A portion of the 22-halo is visible at lower center. After about 10 minutes, an arc tangent to the circumzenithal arc (top center) became visible. Circumzenithal arcs (CZA) are most conspicuous (brightly colored) when the solar elevation is between about 15-25 degrees. At these elevations, however, it's quite challenging to determine if the larger halo associated with the CZA is a 46-degree halo or a supralateral arc.
