Netflix AXES comedy starring real life father and son after two series

NETFLIX has pulled the plug on one of its most hyped comedy series after just two seasons.

Unstable, which starred and was created by father and son duo Rob and John Owen Lowe will not be making a comeback for another series on the streaming giant.

Deadline reports that the show has been given the boot after the second series of the comedy failed to draw in viewers.

Series two of the show launched on the streaming platform in August of this year but failed to crack into the Netflix top 10 and failed to draw in more than 1.3 million total viewers after seven full days on the site.

It is understood that these viewing figures have led to Netflix calling time on the show for good.

The show sees real-life father and son duo Rob and John Owen play Ellis and Jackson Dragon and its a relationship full of polar opposites.

Introverted son Jackson is forced to go to work and help out his wild and outgoing father Ellis at his biotech company.

Jackson attempts to save the day in a bid to stop the organisation from going under.

Whilst it seems that Netflix have turned their back on the show for good, Rob Lowe and co. are understood to have already begun shopping the show to other networks.

Whilst attempting to pitch a Netflix Original to other streaming networks is tricky due to the various limitations, many programmes who started out life on the streaming service have found new homes on linear TV networks.

According to Deadline, a third series of Unstable has already been offered up to US television channel Fox where Rob currently has a first-look deal with the network.

As one of the leading faces of Fox, Rob is the host and executive producer of the game show The Floor as well as being the leading role in drama 9-1-1: Lone Star.

However, Fox are believed to have passed on the show citing a desire to create their own original comedy programming from scratch.

The news that Unstable has been ditched for good comes just days after another popular Netflix hit was also cancelled.

That 90s Show, which debuted in January 2023, also failed to make it past two series on the streaming service.

Kurtwood Smith who played Red Forman in That 70s Show and That 90s Show shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram earlier this month.

He wrote: “I know you have been asking me when season 3 is coming, but I have tough news…Netflix will not be renewing.”

Kurtwood continued: “I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all of the fans everywhere who supported and watched the show.
