Spurs may have to battle Chelsea and Liverpool for England U21 starlet
Tottenham will not find it easy to secure a deal for Jamie Gittens, even though the wide-forward is expected to be in the shop window.
Gittens’ electric form
Gittens has started the season in scintillating form for Borussia Dortmund, having notched up four goals and two assists in just nine appearances across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).
This includes a brace off the bench in the Bundesliga side’s 3-0 Champions League victory over Club Brugge last month.
It was reported last week by Bild that the Man City academy graduate’s performances had caught the attention of Spurs, who are ready to offer him a route back to England.
Dortmund’s stance
Football Insider have now also backed up Spurs’ interest in Gittens and their latest update on the transfer saga is positive from a Tottenham perspective.
They say that amidst the North London club’s interest, Dortmund are open to cashing in on the England Under-21 international as long as the price is right.
However, it is pointed out that it would have to be a ‘big sale’ since the 20-year-old is contracted to the club until 2028.
More clubs enter the race
Football Insider make it clear that Ange Postecoglou’s men would likely have to fend off interest from some of their Premier League rivals to land Gittens.
This is because Chelsea and Liverpool have allegedly sent scouts to Germany over recent weeks to keep an eye on the Man City academy graduate.
