APD investigating after man, woman found dead outside southeast Austin apartment complex
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is investigating a double homicide in southeast Austin Monday morning.
One man and one woman, both in their early 20s, were found dead with apparent gunshot wounds in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1800 Burton Drive, which is between E. Oltorf Street and E. Riverside Drive, APD Public Information Officer Jose Mendez said at a press conference Monday.

Police said it received an initial call about the incident around 7:30 a.m. Monday. The man and woman were found inside of a vehicle.
Police said the suspect in the double homicide is believed to be connected with an Amber Alert issued out of Austin Monday afternoon. The deceased woman had three children who were originally unaccounted for. The children, ages 10, 4 and 2, were found safe Monday evening, APD said.
As of 6:20 p.m. Monday, the suspect in the Amber Alert, identified by authorities as Sherles Machado Hernandez, is still at large and is considered to be armed and dangerous, police said.
APD said investigators have witness statements and surveillance video from the area. Police are also working to find out the relationship between the man and the woman.
Investigators believe the incident happened "early Monday morning," APD said.
