WATCH: Joe Root rubs the ball on Jack Leach’s head to shine it, video goes viral

Former England captain Joe Root was seen rubbing the ball against spinner Jack Leach’s bald head during the first day of the second Test between Pakistan and England in Multan.

This isn’t the first time that Root rubbed the ball against Leach’s head as he tried the same stunt during England’s 2022 tour of Pakistan, in the 73rd over of the first Test.

With saliva banned in international cricket due to the Covid-19 protocols, players have had to get innovative to maintain the ball’s polish.

Pakistan skipper Shan Masood won the toss and elected to bat first on the flat Multan pitch. England started the match strongly as Leach picked up the wickets of both Abdullah Shafique and Masood. However, a brilliant partnership from Saim Ayub and Kamran Ghulam saw the hosts scrape back into the match.
