Exactly three weeks before Election Day, former President Donald Trump plans to return to Chicago Tuesday morning for a downtown event with Bloomberg News and The Economic Club of Chicago.
It will be the second time Trump camaigns in Chicago this year — and it comes after a contentious visit in July in which Trump questioned the racial identity of Vice President Kamala Harris at the National Association of Black Journalists conference.
That shortened event was full of controversial comments from the former president, including claims that illegal immigrants are taking “Black jobs" and accusations that Rachel Scott of ABC News opened with "a very nasty question."
When asked if it was appropriate to call Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris a “DEI hire,” Trump accused the vice president of previously “only promoting Indian heritage.”
"I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black and now she wants to be known as Black,” Trump said. “So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?"

This time around, Trump will be interviewed by Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait before members of The Economic Club of Chicago and their guests at a downtown Chicago hotel.
Trump held rallies in Aurora, Colorado on Friday and Coachella, California on Saturday. And he's planning to hold a rally at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in late October — marking unconventional late campaign visits to Democratic strongholds. The goal is to get plenty of media attention and attract donors and supporters in rural counties of the blue states.
The former president stayed at the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago on October 10 ahead of his Colorado rally. He also stayed in Chicago on Sept. 27 following a Michigan rally and ahead of a Wisconsin campaign event.
