Fatal house fire in Dutchess County remains under investigation
CLINTON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- On Sunday, a house fire in Dutchess County sent numerous people to the hospital. A 35-year-old woman, Shannon Hubbard, and her one-year-old child were pronounced dead at Vassar Hospital and Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, respectively, after being rescued from the home.
Around 10:40 p.m., troopers and the East Clinton Fire Department responded to a call of a house fire. When they arrived, they found the caller outside of the residence, who stated two children and their mother were inside the house on the second floor.
According to Troopers, entry into the residence was not possible until the Pleasant Valley Fire Department arrived on the scene. Hubbard and her children were extricated from the home and the family and the caller were sent to local hospitals.
The caller, a 39-year-old male, and one of the children were sent to the Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation according to Troopers.
State Police were assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. Five other fire departments were also on the scene.
