OKC City Council to consider architect for new arena
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The OKC City Council is scheduled to consider a contract with an architectural team to design and develop Oklahoma City's new arena during their next meeting on Tuesday.
According to the city, the architectural team would consist of Kansas City-based MANICA Architecture as the Design Architect and Atlanta-based TVS as the Architect of Record if the contract is approved.
MANICA Architecture specializes in sport and entertainment venues, with completed projects including the Chase Center in San Francisco and Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. TVS's portfolio features both international and domestic projects, such as the Jio World Center in Mumbai, India, and the Duke Energy Plaza in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The new arena will be built where Prairie Surf Studios is currently located, which is expected to be demolished in 2025. Design for the new arena will begin immediately, and construction is scheduled to start in 2026. The city's goal is to have the arena finished in 2028.
