One dead after one-car crash in New Baltimore

NEW BALTIMORE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Greene County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal one-car crash that took place in New Baltimore on Thursday. The crash happened just after 10:30 a.m. on County Route 54, with two occupants in the car.

The initial investigation determined that a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Evan Kravitz, 43, of Hudson, was headed southwest when the car went off the road and struck multiple trees. The passenger of the car, Vance Cohen, 29, of Hudson was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Deputies, once first responders arrived, they began life-saving measures to both men. Kravitz was later arrested.

Charges:

  • Vehicular Manslaughter in the second degree, a class D felony
  • Driving while Ability impaired by drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor

Kravitz was later arraigned in the Town of New Baltimore Court. At court, he was remanded to the Greene County Jail, to be held without bail.

Deputies were assisted by the New York State Police, New Baltimore Fire Department and Medway-Grapeville Fire Department. Coxsackie Ambulance and the Greene County paramedics were also on scene.
