Perfect Timing: Jets Solve Huge Problem Before Patriots Matchup

The Jets have been an abject disaster to this point in the season, but it looks as if though things could be turning around… just in time for their second matchup with the New England Patriots.

New York reached an agreement with standout edge rusher Haason Reddick on an adjusted contract Sunday, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Reddick will report to the team Monday, putting an end to his months-long holdout that started when he was traded by the Philadelphia Eagles in March. Reddick was initially set to earn a base salary of $14.25 million in the final season of the three-year, $45 million contract he signed with Philly in 2022.

Yes, that means Reddick and wide receiver Davante Adams will both be in the building leading up to New York’s matchup with New England in Week 8.

Isn’t that fun, Patriots fans?

“Jets owner Woody Johnson was said to be ‘very involved in working this out’ with (Reddick’s agent, Drew) Rosenhaus,” according to Schefter. “Johnson never had any intention of trading Reddick, despite inquires from other teams.”

The Jets have agreed to waive over $12 million in fines in return for Reddick honoring his contract for the remainder of the season. Let’s see how that works out.
