Lafayette woman killed in Lafourche Parish crash
DES ALLEMANDS, La. (WGNO) — A woman is dead following a two-vehicle crash that happened in Des Allemands on Friday, Oct. 25.
According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers with Troop C began investigating the crash around 11 a.m.
Troopers said the initial investigation showed that 38-year-old Lauren Womack, of Lafayette, was driving a 2015 Honda Odyssey east on U.S. Highway 90 when, at the same time, a 2024 Honda CR-V was heading west. For reasons that are being investigated, the Odyssey went off the roadway, crossed the median, and hit the CR-V head-on.
Womack wasn't restrained, was fatally injured, and declared dead at the scene, troopers said. The driver of the CR-V was seriously injured and was taken to an out-of-area hospital.
Standard toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis. The investigation is ongoing.
