This week will show us where Cavaliers stand
Cavs news and links for Monday, Oct. 28.
The Cleveland Cavaliers kick off a tough week with a matchup at Madison Square Garden tonight.
The first sip
The Cavs have completely dominated their competition in the first three games. They’ve outscored their opponent by 22.3 points per 100 possessions with a 126.7 offensive rating and a 104.4 defensive rating. Those numbers will come back to earth this week, but that’s impressive no matter how poor your competition is.
We’ll be able to see how this new-look offense fares against better competition. Here’s a rundown of their next five games.
- at New York Knicks, Monday, 7:30 PM
- Los Angeles Lakers, Wednesday, 7 PM
- Orlando Magic, Friday, 7 PM
- at Milwaukee Bucks, Saturday, 8 PM
- Bucks, Monday, 7 PM
Each of these teams, except for the Knicks, has an intimidating front line that should put the Cavs’ big lineup to the test. We’ll see if Evan Mobley can continue to confidentially ball handle and play make like he has to start the season. The closer games will also give us an idea of how the Cavaliers’ new offensive philosophy holds up in close four-quarter games.
A good or bad week probably won’t mean much in the long run. But it will serve as a progress report for where this team currently stands and what they need to improve on.
