Man chokes victim during fight, charged with attempted murder
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A man was arrested and charged with attempted murder in Lafayette Sunday afternoon after choking another man during a fight, authorities said.
Jared Capritto, 35, of Broussard, is charged with attempted second degree murder, and also had other outstanding arrest warrants, court records show.
Lafayette Police officers were dispatched at approximately 4 p.m. Sunday to a transitional home located in the 400 block of W. Vermilion Street in reference to a fight in progress. Officers said they found Capritto attacking the victim by striking him multiple times in the face and then placing him in a choke hold. The victim began to slipping out of consciousness, authorities said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries sustained during the fight, and was initially listed in stable condition, authorities said.
Capritto is being held at the Lafayette Parish Jail on $50,000 bond.
