Critics hammer ADL for denouncing racist rallies — without naming Trump or MAGA once
The Anti-Defamation League on Monday issued a statement condemning the racism on display at former President Donald Trump's Madison Square Garden rally -- without once naming the former president.
In a statement, the ADL wrote that "political rallies should be about politics and policy, not offensive jokes that denigrate Jews, Palestinians, Puerto Ricans, and other marginalized groups."
The organization then called for unspecified politicians to turn down the temperature in the closing weeks of the election.
"In a moment when hate has surged and when tensions are high, there’s no place for bigotry or intolerance on the campaign trail, full stop," the group wrote. "We expect more and hope for better in these last days before the election."
Many critics were quick to blast the group for issuing a statement condemning the racism at the Trump rally without once mentioning Trump by name.
"Any reason why you didn't name the actual rally where this took place?" asked media columnist Justin Baragona.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made a similar observation.
"And which rally was that, ADL?" she asked. "The way this organization consistently bends over backwards to mollify Trump yet always finds a way to call out the only Palestinian in Congress by name sends its message loud and clear. And it isn’t one of integrity. Really sad to see."
"What's funny about this is that if you look at their tweets before and after this, they always add the @ for the organization (often university) they want to criticize," wrote Middlebury College associate professor James Chase Sanchez. But when it comes to Trump and the GOP, zero guts."
"Hey Jonathan Greenblatt -- as a ADL supporter you need to call out exactly whose rally this was," wrote Twitter user Gayle Fine. "This was not an all rally makes these statements event. This was specifically the Trump campaign and rally you all need to do better."
