Conservative: I'm voting for Kamala Harris even though 'it makes my skin crawl'
A lifelong conservative who loathes Vice President Kamala Harris's policy positions is nonetheless voting for her because he believes former President Donald Trump is a danger to the constitutional order.
Conservative David Mastio has written a new column for the Kansas City Star making a highly reluctant case for Harris.
In fact, Mastio is so reluctant that he writes on Twitter that he's voting for Harris even though "it makes my skin crawl."
After going through a litany of objections of Harris's policies, he makes the case that none of these things poses any kind of danger to the American republic compared to what a second Trump presidency would pose.
Specifically, Mastio says that Trump's effort to illegally remain in power after losing the 2020 election show why he can never again be trusted with power.

"Trump tried to overthrow our 250-year-old system of government on Jan. 6, 2021," he argues. "He tried to force then Vice President Mike Pence to ignore the Constitution and our votes. He emitted a blizzard of lies for months that drove his true believers to storm the Capitol, bringing violence into our political system in the most dangerous way since the Civil War. A vote for Trump could be my last vote if he has his way."
Mastio's distaste for Trump also extends to the former president's personal qualities.
"Trump is everything I stand against," he writes. "He treats women like trash — for which he has been found liable for sexual assault. His disregard for his marital oath presaged his disregard for his constitutional oath. He ignores the law whenever it suits him — for which he has been branded a felon. He is utterly without personal responsibility — for which he has gone to bankruptcy court a half dozen times. The best that can be said of him is that he has not violated all of the Ten Commandments, at least that I know of."
