WBSC Baseball5 course in Senegal attracts 26 coaches and 20 players

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) held a Baseball5 course, taught by Chedli Mokrani and hosted by the Senegal Baseball & Softball Association, at the OlympAfrica Centre in Somone from 20 to 28 October.

The course consisted of theoretical and practical sessions, including ⁠Baseball5 rules, warm-up and defence, hitting drills, and game situations.

Players and coaches also experienced drills for the defence such as fielding, catching, and throwing; how to get an elimination at first, second and third base and home plate; how to get a double elimination and the difference between tossing and flipping the ball. The course included game officials' mechanics and scoring.

Each practical session on the field ended with a 30-minute game.

The course attracted 26 coaches and 20 players.

Senegal will host the WBSC Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026 where Baseball5 will make its Olympic debut.

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari visited Senegal in July to underscore the WBSC's commitment to promoting Baseball5 in Senegal and ensuring a successful Youth Olympic Games 2026 in Dakar.
