Brentford’s Thomas Frank has emphatically dismissed speculation linking him with the vacant Manchester United managerial position.

The Dane’s stock has risen significantly in recent years, making him a potential candidate for the Red Devils’ top job following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

However, Frank has made it clear that his immediate focus remains on Brentford.

Speaking ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup clash with Sheffield Wednesday, he said (via Sky Sports): “I’m very, very happy here. I think it’s one of the best clubs in the world.”

The 49-year-old has been instrumental in Brentford’s impressive rise, transforming them into a Premier League force since they won promotion in 2021.

His commitment to the club and their unique style of play has earned him widespread admiration.

Frank does not fit the bill for United

While Frank has impressed at Brentford, he is not quite the calibre of manager the club should be after.

He falls into the bracket of unambitious targets such as Edin Terzic, Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter and Kieran McKenna.

United need a high-profile, dynamic and tactically astute coach who can galvanise the squad and implement a modern, attacking style of play.

Julian Nagelsmann, with his tactical acumen and experience managing top clubs, would be a more suitable fit.

Nagelsmann’s innovative approach and ability to develop young talent could rejuvenate United and restore the club to its former glory.

Xavi Hernandez and Ruben Amorim are also managers with winning CVs that could excite the Old Trafford faithful.

United desperately need to get it right in the managerial market. The club cannot afford to fail with their next hire after finishing outside a Champions League spot last season.
