The Golden State Warriors lost their first home game of the season on Sunday, falling to the Los Angeles Clippers, 112-104. However, the biggest concern coming out of the loss was the health of Stephen Curry, who exited in the fourth quarter after aggravating an ankle injury.

Unfortunately, Curry’s ankle injuries have been an ongoing concern throughout his career, and this latest setback could mean time on the sidelines. ESPN’s Kendra Andrews reported that the Warriors are preparing for Curry to potentially miss “several games.”
On the bright side, the Warriors are no strangers to navigating Curry’s injuries and have prepared for situations like this by adding quality veterans in the offseason. While Curry recovers, the team’s depth—one of its biggest strengths this season—will be relied upon to carry the load.

Warriors News:
Warriors’ Curry exits loss to Clippers with left ankle sprain | ESPN
Coach Steve Kerr said Curry described the injury as “mild or moderate” after the game. However, there is a level of concern for the veteran, as he has suffered multiple sprains on that ankle.
The team is bracing for Curry to miss time, possibly several games, sources told ESPN.
“I feel more comfortable that we can withstand an absence offensively without Steph because of [our] depth,” Kerr told ESPN.
Turnovers crush Warriors as they abandon pregame plan vs. Clippers | NBC Sports Bay Area
Kerr’s starting five tallied 11 turnovers and 10 assists, painting a picture for the team as a whole. The Warriors only had 19 assists on their 38 made shots, all while having 21 turnovers to which the Clippers scored 21 points.
“Well No. 1, the Clippers were great defensively,” Kerr said. “But we got really loose with the ball and we made some careless plays. They’re a very athletic team, very well coached. They were in spots to bother us.”
Kerr took blame for the Warriors’ need to work under duress better. They snatched 28 steals in their first two games and came away with another 10 on Sunday night, but the Clippers one-upped them there with 11. Veteran guard Kris Dunn led both teams with four steals, and four Clippers had multiple steals.

Hield would make sense as a starter. Despite his 3-for-14 shooting night Sunday, including 1-for-9 from 3, he is clearly vital to the Warriors offense. The Clippers, assuredly noting Hield was 12-for-16 from 3 in the first two games, paid special attention to him when he came off the bench. Golden State will need the space and gravity of their best shooter available.
Does Kerr start DeAnthony Melton at point guard or Brandin Podziemski? The latter fits better for the pace they want to play. But Podz is also 1-for-14 from 3-point range, so if Green will be the de facto point guard, Melton makes more sense as a spot-up shooter.

In case you missed it at Golden State of Mind:
Player grades: Warriors vs. Clippers
Good things happen when Wiggins is aggressive and assertive, and he was those things on Sunday night. He also played very strong defense on James Harden, who shot just 6-for-19 from the field, and committed five turnovers.
The sky’s the limit for Golden State if All-Star Wiggins is back.
Grade: A+
Post-game bonus: Led the team in points.
