PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A suspect was arrested in connection to a deadly crash in Northeast Portland on Monday, authorities said.

Portland police also identified the victim as 51-year-old Zachary D. Fine.

Portland resident Manuel D. Espana, 21, is accused of manslaughter and other charges in connection to the two-vehicle crash that happened early Monday morning.

Police said Espana was driving a 2009 Acura TSC traveling eastbound on Northeast Halsey and approaching Northeast 118th Avenue. Fine was driving a 2007 Dodge Calber, making a left turn from Halsey, heading south on Northeast 118th Avenue. That is when Espana allegedly struck Fine in the passenger side of the Dodge, killing him.

"Excessive speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash," the Portland Police Bureau said in a release. "The driver of the Acura was medically cleared, and then booked into jail."

Espana was lodged in the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces charges including second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving.

Officials said the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Portland police.
