IPL 2025 Retention Day Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Full Retained Players LIVE Updates: MS Dhoni and which other players will team retain
Chennai Super Kings are five-time Indian Premier League champions. They may have failed to qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs but will be keen to bounce back to winning ways come the IPL 2025 season.
For that to happen, CSK will be looking for continuity in their squad under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Chennai franchise have got a big boost with former captain and their ‘Thala’ MS Dhoni announcing recently that he is looking forward to playing in IPL for a few more years.
With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announcing that players who have not represented India or held a central contract can be classified as ‘uncapped’ player, Dhoni can be retained in this category for as less as Rs 4 crore. Dhoni’s current IPL salary is Rs 12 crore, it remains to be seen if he will take a massive salary cut of Rs 8 crore or not.
Another other retentions, CSK are likely to retain all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, skipper Gaikwad and Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana, who has been groomed under Dhoni. They have also decided to retain all-rounder Shivam Dube. However, the salary for each of these players will be known by later on Thursday, when CSK share their official retention list with the BCCI.
CSK may decide to use the ‘Right to Match’ cards at the IPL 2025 mega auction next month for the likes of Devon Conway or Rachin Ravindra.
