TOPEKA (KSNT) - Kansas transportation officials are inviting Topekans to an upcoming open house for information on a proposal to improve bridges on Highway 24.
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) issued a press release on Oct. 31 stating that community members are invited to an open house meeting from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at The Brownstone located at 4020 Northwest 25th Street. The discussion will revolve around proposed improvements for the Highway 24 bridges that cross over Goodyear Road in north Topeka.
Kate Craft with KDOT said people who come to the meeting will be able to view the proposal, provide input on the topic and speak one-on-one with staff. No formal presentation will take place with people encouraged to come and go as they please while the open house is active.
KDOT is currently in the early design phase for this project which aims to replace the eastbound and westbound Highway 24 bridges over Goodyear Road. The project is currently slated to start in the fall of 2025.
People who attend the open house can also get information on current and upcoming projects in the Topeka area such as the Highway 24 reconstruction, Stover Road bridges over Highway 24 and the I-70 Polk-Quincy Viaduct projects.
