Halloween parade and trunk or treat put on for local preschoolers
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - A Child's Place at Unity House celebrated Halloween with its annual parade. At this event, universal pre-school and special education program students dressed up in their Halloween costumes accompanied by their teachers and parents and walked down Philips Street along the school and looped back to the parking lot.
The school staff also held a trunk or treat in the parking lot of the school after the walk. Teachers passed out candy and treats to the students and played Halloween themed music. Susan Rimkunas, the Director of Education for A Child's Place at Unity House, said planning for this event begins in August to ensure all children can participate and have the best possible Halloween experience at school.
“The classrooms have been talking about this for a while, so they make sure the children are prepared; for it, they know its coming," Rimkunas said. "They may not remember Halloween last year, or they may remember something about it. Either way, we want to make sure they are prepared, we have read stories. We've talked about it.”
The festivities were carried into the classroom, where students had a Halloween snack of caramel and apples and put together spooky art projects.
