Watch BMW driver make wrong turn and barrel straight towards oncoming traffic – but viewers DON’T think it’s his fault
A BMW driver has sparked debate online after a wrong turn sent him barreling towards oncoming traffic.
The confused motorist seemed convinced they were doing the right thing, but was accused of “making up the rules“.
Dash cam footage taken by driving instructor Jason Horsfield in Greater Manchester showed the driver joining a rather complex dual carriageway at a junction.
The BMW was coming from the left-hand side of a crossroads and attempting to turn right to get onto the other road.
To do this they had to cross one lane of traffic turning back the way he just came and then a further two lanes continuing straight ahead in the opposite direction.
Clearly, they didn’t read the road layout quite right and ended up trying to turn into wrong lane.
This effectively sent them travelling the wrong way down the incorrect side of the carriageway.
The red-faced motorist quickly realised his mistake and, thankfully, managed to hit the brakes before colliding with any cars.
But they also realised that they couldn’t safely reverse out of the predicament without backing into the busy junction.
So, instead, they compounded the error but turning across the central reservation, running over a pedestrian crossing in the process.
This then brought them back onto the correct side of the road and allowed them to continue on with their journey.
Posting the clip on his TikTok account, @jason_horsfield, the driving instructor joked: “When BMW drivers make up the rules.”
His amusement was also backed up by many social media commenters.
One wrote: “10/10 for improvising.”
Another added: “Is it me or are the people with fancy cars really bad drivers?”
However, some were just as quick to defend the driver.
While most recognised that the motorist had got it wrong, they insisted that they had actually dealt with the error pretty well.
One supporter hit back: “Bad move but I think that was the safest move after messing up the turn.
“Reversing would’ve caused more chaos.”
And a second chimed in: “There are far to many junctions like this without lane markings or arrows.
“Easy to do.”
