Kansas on track to set new voting record

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Kansas election officials are projecting a record-breaking turnout for the upcoming General Election on Nov. 5.

Kansas Secretary of State (SOS) Scott Schwab said in a press release on Nov. 1 that Kansas is set to hit a new record for the number of votes cast in the General Election. He cites the presidential candidates and key issues as being big reasons for why more people take part in the General Election as opposed to other elections.

“We are on track to set a record, so I encourage every voter to get out and exercise their constitutional right,” Schwab said.

The SOS said more than 516,000 votes have been cast so far through advance voting in 2024, marking a more than 25% turnout so far. During the 2020 election, 642,700 advance ballots were cast compared to 375,000 in 2016.

Voters have until noon on Monday, Nov. 4 to cast votes ahead of the General Election while advance mail ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by the county election office no later than Friday, Nov. 8. For more information, check out the SOS website by clicking here.
