Four-star guard Amari Evans chooses Tennessee

Tennessee has landed a commitment from Amari Evans, the No. 74 overall player in the 2025 class. He made his announcement on Friday live at Overtime Elite.

Evans — the 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard — chose Tennessee over Pitt and Xavier. He’s originally from Pittsburgh.

“Hall of fame coach, great atmosphere,” Evans said of his decision. “Coach Rod [Clark], that’s my guy. I’m ready to hoop.”

This summer at Peach Jam, Evans averaged 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game to help NH Lightning reach bracket play. He added nine steals through six games. He’ll play for the City Reapers for his senior season at Overtime Elite.

“I feel like I’m a team leader and I help my team win by ways that don’t show up on the stat sheet,” Evans previously told ZAGSBLOG.

Evans joins big man DeWayne Brown in Rick Barnes’ 2025 recruiting class. Tennessee remains involved with some top forwards like Nate Ament, Chris Cenac and Caleb Wilson.
