Per Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Mets are hiring Laiky Uribe as assistant director of international scouting. Uribe most recently served as an international crosschecker for the Dodgers, and he will now work under new Mets director of international scouting James Kang as the Mets continue to grow and improve their front office.

Ron Darling said he doesn’t think the Mets should be all-in on Juan Soto in free agency. Darling noted, “Juan Soto is as great a hitter as I’ve ever seen and Aaron Judge had a great season, but one player doesn’t make it. I don’t know, maybe you get two $300 million players.”

According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins exercised his $18 million player option to return to Milwaukee in 2025. In his first year with the Brewers, Hoskins hit 26 home runs and had a .722 OPS.

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, the Rays picked up the $10.5 million option on Brandon Lowe‘s deal.

The Mariners announced that they declined the 2025 club option on infielder Jorge Polanco. Polanco recorded just a .651 OPS in his lone season in Seattle. The Mariners also announced that Luis Urías cleared waivers and is now a free agent. Urías also struggled in his lone season with the Mariners, recording a .696 OPS in just 41 games.

The Angels announced that they traded for Phillies infielder Scott Kingery, sending cash considerations back to Philadelphia. Kingery has not made a major league plate appearance since 2021, but he recorded an .804 OPS with the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate in 2024.

The Angels also announced that they claimed infielder Ryan Noda off waivers from the A’s. Noda had a really good rookie year in 2023, hitting 16 homers and recording a .770 OPS, but he hit just one home run and had a .465 OPS in 111 major league plate appearances last season.

The Reds announced that they optioned Ty France and Nick Martini to Triple-A. Both players elected free agency instead. The team also reinstated reliever Tejay Antone and sent him to Triple-A, an assignment he accepted so he will remain with the organization.

The Braves claimed pitcher Royber Salinas off waivers from the A’s. The 23-year-old was originally sent from the Braves to the A’s in the Sean Murphy deal, and Atlanta now gets their prospect back.

MLB insider Mike Rodriguez notes that the Dodgers might be the team with the most strength to land Willy Adames in free agency.
