In his prime at Rangers he was as good as a midfielder as could be found in Europe.

So 'good' that he failed badly when he went to Blackburn.

He didn't.

He was their player of the season I think and then had a really bad injury.

I do agree though that he should have tried himself at one of Europe's big clubs when he had the chance. Can't really be sure how good he was on the basis of his actual career.
