NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) -- New Braunfels' is celebrating its German heritage by hosting its annual Wurstfest event from Nov. 1 to Nov. 10. The event will mark the festival's 63rd year of celebrating the art of German sausage making and the city's culture.

Wurstfest is held at Landa Park, located at 164 Landa Park Drive, at the banks of the Comal River. The event offers 10 days of German-inspired food, drink, entertainment and more, according to organizers.

The entertainment ranges from several dance areas and over 40 bands playing over 250 sets.

Wurstfest said the musicians include, Grammy-nominated accordionist Alex Meixner, German artist Munchholzhauser Blaskapella, and New York-based Die Schlauberger.

“Music has been an integral part of the Wurstfest celebration since its inception in 1961,” said 2024 Wurstfest President Sherman Krause. “Whether its oompah, polka, yodeling or a waltz, they are classic German genres that get people out onto the dance floor, swaying in their seats and cheering and singing along with the bands.”

Wurstfest organizers said more than 20 local nonprofits would benefit from selling food, drink and wares from the event.

Wurstfest is offering free admission to the event from Nov. 4 through Nov. 7, according to its website. Tickets can also be purchased online.
