KING Charles’s diversity czar who was brought in after the Harry and Meghan race row has quit.
Eva Omaghomi, who was the King’s most senior black aide, was appointed to a newly created role of director of community engagement in July 2021.
She had worked for the Royal Household for 13 years before picking up the job at the height of the Royal Family race row.
Her job was said to be to ‘help take forward Their Royal Highnesses’ work with minority groups in the UK, Commonwealth and globally’.
She was by the King’s side throughout his visit to Rwanda two years ago but was not in Samoa or Australia.
It is understood she resigned her post last month for a job in the private sector with insiders “sorry to see her go”.
It comes after a string of race rows rocked Buckingham Palace over the past four years.
Just weeks before her appointment, Meghan and Harry claimed in their shock Oprah Winfrey interview that a Royal had made racist remarks against their unborn children.
Days after the TV bombshell, Prince William told a reporter: ‘We are very much not a racist family.’
But US-based Prince Harry, 40, has also blasted “unconscious bias” within the Royal Family.
Although the duke performed a remarkable u-turn in an interview promoting his memoir Spare claiming he had not called royals racist.
Sussex biographer Omid Scobie named the Princess of Wales and King Charles as the royals who supposedly questioned Archie’s skin colour, in a Dutch version of his book Endgame last November.
In December 2022, charity boss Ngozi Fulani claimed the late Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting Susan Hussey asked where she was “really” from at a royal reception.
Lady Susan subsequently stepped down from her role as Buckingham Palace described the remarks as “unacceptable and deeply regrettable”.
A spokesperson for Prince William said “racism has no place in our society”.
An inclusion and diversity ‘strategy and action plan’ was initiated shortly afterwards for staff and Royal Family members.
One course was called ‘unconscious bias training’ and another ‘diversity in the workplace’.
The palace has set a target of having 14 per cent ethnic minority staff by 2025.
A royal source said: “Eva has been a much valued part of The King’s team for over 17 years.
“She is taking up an exciting new opportunity outside the Household, but will continue to advise The King on community engagement matters.”
Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
