Caris LeVert and Jaylon Tyson ruled out of game with Bucks
The Cavs will be without their best bench player on Saturday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be slightly shorthanded in Saturday’s matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. Caris LeVert has been ruled out with right knee soreness. Rookie forward Jaylon Tyson joins LeVert on the injury report. Tyson is out with a left-hip strain.
The severity of either injury isn’t known. This could just be a precaution due to it being the second game of a back-to-back.
LeVert missed the end of last season’s series with the Boston Celtics with an injury in the opposite knee as the one listed in Saturday’s injury report. LeVert said in training camp that the injury in his left knee didn’t fully heal until “two, three weeks” before camp started.
LeVert is having a great start to the season. That is due in part to his familiarity with head coach Kenny Atkinson from their days with the Brooklyn Nets. He’s averaging 12 points, 4.3 assists, and a steal in 21.6 minutes per game. He’s doing this by shooting 61.4% from the field and 52.4% from three. This included a 13-point and seven assist performance in Friday’s win over the Orlando Magic.
Tyson hasn’t been in the rotation early on. The rookie has only made four appearances and is averaging 1.8 points in 5.3 minutes per appearance.
The Cavs will likely be relying on their bench more in Saturday’s game against the Bucks considering it’s their second game in as many nights and their third in four days. Fortunately, for Cleveland, none of their starters played above 30 minutes in their win Friday.
