Patriots Taking Unorthodox Approach To Titans Matchup

The Patriots typically like to tweak their roster the day before each game, making matchup-specific moves depending on who they might be playing that week.

It’s not a requirement, though.

New England showcased that Saturday, as they failed to make a single roster move or practice squad elevation prior to Sunday’s matchup with the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium. It’s the first time this season the club didn’t make an elevation, and just the third time in the last two seasons.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss confirmed the lack of day-before-game moves.

The Patriots have elevated offensive linemen Michael Jordan (2x) and Bryan Hudson, defensive lineman Trysten Hill (2x), tight end Mitchell Wilcox, running back Terrell Jennings, linebackers Joe Giles Harris and Ochaun Mathis (3x) and long snapper Tucker Addington this season.

Jordan and Mathis each turned their elevations into active roster spots, while Hill and Addington are no longer with the organization.

The Titans did make an elevation, which tipped their hand in terms of who they’ll be starting at quarterback Sunday.
