LAWRENCE (KSNT) - Bill Self and KU men's basketball added a member to their future squad late Friday night, who also happens to be the top-ranked shooting guard in the country.
Darryn Peterson, a 6-foot-6 guard from Ohio who currently plays prep basketball in California, is the No. 3 prospect in ESPN's class of 2025 rankings. The newest Jayhawk commit is KU's highest-ranked recruit since Josh Jackson in 2016, according to ESPN.
As a member of the 2023 USA Men's U16 basketball team, he averaged 16.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists while helping the team take home a gold medal.
Peterson picked the Jayhawks over Ohio State, Kansas State, USC and Kentucky. He's KU's first commitment of the 2025 class.
