Ishan Kishan probably in trouble after Heated argument with Umpire for ball-tampering allegations
The unofficial Test match between India A and Australia A in Mackay was a show in itself during the final day as the Indian team got blamed for tampering with the ball. Between all this, star wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was blamed for ‘inappropriate behaviour’ after he had a heated argument with the umpires. Ishan might face severe consequences if the officials decide to accuse him of on-field ‘dissent.’
According to local media, the fight between Ishan an the umpire Shawn Craig might result in him getting fines. The game on Day 4 was delayed, as the umpires changed the ball calling it as the ball bad “scratch marks.”
Indian players were spotted having an exchange with the umpires, and Craig was on heard by the mic on the stump which clarified that the tourists were responsible for the scratching of the ball.
“You scratch it, we change the ball. There will be no more discussion; let’s play. This is not a discussion; you will be playing with that ball,” umpire Shawn told the Indian players.
Ishan replied and called the decision to be “very stupid” which irritated the umpire even more.
“Excuse me, you will be penalised for dissent. That is inappropriate behaviour; it is because of your actions that we changed the ball,” umpire Shawn retorted.
It is not clear about the seriousness of the accusations of ball-tampering. According to code of conduct of Cricket Australia, players who are found guilty of changing the condition of ball may be subject to fines and even bans.
