One dead after west Columbus shooting
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead after a west Columbus shooing early Tuesday morning.
According to police at the scene in the Central Hilltop neighborhood, officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots fired just after midnight in the 400 block of South Richardson Avenue, near the Wicklow Road intersection. Upon arrival a man was found lying on the street with at least one gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, but was later pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m. Police are actively searching for a dark sedan, which witnesses said was seen leaving the scene.
Police do not have any other description of the vehicle or suspect information as of 6 a.m. Tuesday. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Columbus Division of Police’s Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730.
