Tottenham are now officially the most devastating side going forward in the Premier League this season – even more so than Manchester City.

Time and again, Tottenham have shown this season that they are capable of blowing teams away in a matter of 10 or 15 minutes when things click for them.

While they were let down by some poor finishing and bad decision-making in the final third earlier this season, that is an issue that they appear to have sorted out.

Ange Postecoglou‘s men were at their devastating best in the second half against Aston Villa, who were simply unable to cope with the pressure and intensity of the home side, and ended up crumbling.

Tottenham at the top of the tree

The four goals that Spurs put past Villa on Sunday means that the Lilywhites are now the top goalscorers in the Premier League so far this season.

Spurs have now found the back of the net 22 times in four matches, overtaking Manchester City’s tally of 21 goals.

The win over Villa brings Tottenham right back into the race for Champions League qualification, with Spurs now sitting just two points off fourth place.

Tottenham’s impressive defensive record

While not many will be surprised at Spurs’ impressive numbers going forward, the Lilywhites’ defensive numbers will shock a lot of observers.

The narrative around Tottenham is that they are too open at the back and give away too many chances and goals to the opposition.

However, Spurs have the joint third-best defensive record in the Premier League, having conceded just 11 goals in their ten matches so far.

Only Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have conceded fewer goals than Tottenham have this season.
