Metro polling locations see heavy turnout

0

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Several polling locations across the metro saw heavy crowds Tuesday for the Presidential Election.

At Church of the Servant off MacArthur, voters turned out for two precincts. Some voters we spoke to said they waited in line for more than an hour. Lines wrapped around the inside of the church for much of the day.

At Santa Fe Presbyterian in Edmond, voters waited in line outside to cast their ballot. The line even stretched as far as Santa Fe Avenue early Tuesday morning before polls opened.

Oklahoma County Election Board officials said they had some problems with electronic ballot machines at a few locations, but were able to call out technicians and fix the boxes.

They also said they commonly see “electioneering” where voters wear clothing of specific candidates, which is against the law.

Election Board officials said when that happens, sheriff’s deputies are alerted to handle the issue.

In the four days of early voting, Oklahoma had record numbers, with around 292,000 people casting their ballot.
