Runoff needed to elect new Youngsville Police Chief
BATON ROUGE, La. (KLFY) -- The special election to determine the Chief of Police of the City of Youngsville has yet to be decided.
Jean Paul "JP" Broussard and Cody Louviere will contest the election in a runoff Dec. 7, after none of the three candidates gained a majority in Tuesday's presidential election.
Broussard had 46% of the vore, Louviere, the current chief, had 40% and "Matt" Thomassee finished third with 14%.
Louviere ran as the incumbent after being appointed to replace former chief Rickey Boudreaux, who retired abruptly citing health reasons. Boudreaux attempted to run for the office in this election, but was disqualified from doing so as it viollated state law.
According to the unofficial results posted by the Louisiana Secretary of State, 72.2% of eligible voters turned out.
