India's sugar production is projected to decrease to 33.3 million tonnes in 2024-25, according to the Indian Sugar and Bioenergy Manufacturers' Association (ISMA). The industry body attributes this decline to drought in Maharashtra and calls for an increase in the minimum selling price of sugar, citing rising production costs and declining market prices.
