Afghanistan will head into the three-match ODI series against Asian rivals Bangladesh on the back of their historic 2-1 win over South Africa. The two sides will face off in the first match of the three-match ODI series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on Wednesday (November 6).

The Afghans have brought in opening batter Sediqullah Atal and left-arm wristspinner Noor Ahmad in place of the injured pair of Ibrahim Zadran (ankle) and Mujeeb Ur Rahman (hand). Atal was the leading run-scorer for Afghanistan ‘A’ team in their historic triumph in the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup.

Former Gujarat Titans spinner Noor Ahmed also picked up 22 wickets in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) to end up as the ‘Player of the Tournament’. Afghanistan will also bank on mystery spinner Allah Ghazanfar, who was one of the leading wickettakers for the side in the ODI series win against South Africa.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be missing the services of their star players Shakib al Hasan and Litton Das. While Shakib has opted out of the Afghanistan series, Litton is down with fever and Tanzim Hasan is out with a shoulder injury.

The visitors are also dealing with their off-field issues with current skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto already communicating to the board that he wants to give up captaincy.
