Bond measures lead in Kentfield, Petaluma

Voters in the Kentfield School District were leaning toward passing the $48 million Measure E bond, according to preliminary returns Tuesday.

With 100% of precincts counted for Measure E, there were 57.85% yes votes to 42.15% no votes. The measure requires approval by 55% of voters to pass.

If the apparent approval holds, Measure E will levy a tax of $29 per $100,000 of assessed property annually. For a home assessed at about $1.45 million, the district median, that would mean a tax of about $420 per year.

The Kentfield district serves about 1,055 students at Bacich Elementary School and Kent Middle School.

In the Petaluma Joint Union High School District, the $159 million Measure AA bond collected a 54.69% yes majority in the small Marin section of the district. In Sonoma County, the preliminary yes vote Tuesday night was 60.2%.

Measure AA requires approval by 55% of voters to pass.

Measure AA seeks to raise $159 million for repairs and maintenance of school buildings. If approved, it would levy a tax of $30 per $100,000 of assessed property annually.

Measure AA proceeds would support Petaluma City Schools, which has 7,300 students across 18 schools with over 950,000 square feet of facilities.
