Jan. 6 attacker Christopher Carnell submitted a filing to Judge Beryl Howell asking for the case to be paused until Dec. 13.

Politico legal reporter Kyle Cheney posted the court documents on Wednesday morning, saying that he expects a pardon to come.

According to the filing, "after this status data was scheduled sua sponte by the Court, new developments arose that significantly impacted the status of this case."

"On Nov. 5, 2024, President-elect Donald J. Trump won the 2024 Presidential Election. Throughout his campaign, President-elect Trump made multiple clemency promises to the Jan. 6 defendants, particularly to those who were nonviolent participants," the filing continued. "Mr. Carnell, who was an 18-year-old nonviolent entrant into the Capitol on Jan. 6, is expecting to be relieved of the criminal prosecution that he is currently facing when the new administration takes office."

It says that they're waiting for further information from the Office of the President-elect.

The filing also said that the lawyer is withdrawing from the case because she is retiring.
