Making A Difference Through Team United
The Hibernian Community Foundation and Team United use the power of sport as a platform for Neurodiversity to flourish.
“Neurodiversity” is a word used to explain the unique ways in which people's brains work, for example diagnosis of ADHD or Autism.
At Team United, they are dedicated to delivering programmes and initiatives that are designed to help people with a neurodiverse condition to connect, flourish, discover and shine.
For people with Autism playing football and connecting with others in high-pressured social environments can be challenging. Through TU’s programmes and affiliated relationships young people are provided with recreational and league structured opportunities to play the game.
TU’s programmes are designed to develop friendships, break down social barriers and develop new skills whilst learning new things. The award-winning activities have been recognised by SportScotland, the Scottish FA, Para Football Scotland and the National Lottery.
In September 2023 Team United merged with the Hibernian Community Foundation, allowing TU to enhance and expand on its services. The merger aims to increase participation for neurodivergent people across Scotland, whilst improving access for working with community grassroot clubs.
