See Jacob Elordi’s Uncanny Transformation Into a Young Richard Gere

Jacob Elordi makes an uncanny transformation into a young Richard Gere in the trailer for the upcoming drama Oh, Canada!

The film is written and directed by Paul Schrader, who wrote Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and received an Oscar nomination for First Reformed (2019). Oh, Canada! stars Gere as Leonard, a famous filmmaker who expatriated from America to Canada with his long-suffering wife (Uma Thurman) for mysterious, potentially shameful reasons. In order to tell his own story, Leonard agrees to be the subject of a documentary directed by his former student (The SopranosMichael Imperioli). Leonard, played by Elordi in flashbacks, recounts stories of his youth and how he ended up fleeing his native country.

The trailer shows Elordi and Gere to have an uncanny resemblance, appearing to be seamless versions of the same character at various points in life. The actors are shot in similar lighting and locations to accentuate their physical similarities. The movie’s poster offers perhaps the best look at Gere and Elordi’s transformations, with both actors seamlessly blending into one another.

Schrader adapted Oh, Canada! from Russell Banks’ book Foregone. Schrader previously adapted Banks’ 1989 novel Affliction into a 1998 film of the same name starring Nick Nolte. Oh, Canada! marks Schrader and Gere’s first collaboration since 1981’s American Gigolo, which solidified Gere as one of Hollywood’s leading men. Schrader adapted
