Violent protests have escalated in Mozambique with authorities reportedly using live rounds on citizens to squash dissent following a challenged election. Demonstrations began when opposition leader Venancio Mondlane’s lawyer was assassinated in his car, leading to outcries of government repression and election fraud. And with a rising death toll, some are desperately trying to flee the country.
